If you live in the UK and are considering a career in book publishing, Publishing Insights Day 2024 is an event you don’t want to miss. This affordable, one-day event on June 6, 2024 is put on by Comma Press and Manchester Metropolitan University (Manchester UK). It’s a day to learn about the publishing industry and some of the roles within it.
Event highlights include:
- A keynote by Sam Missignham, founder of The Empowered Author.
- A panel discussion by UK publishing professionals on how to develop your career in book publishing, even if you live outside of London.
- An introduction to publishing by Ra Page, founder of Comma Press.
- A series of discussions on the various roles in publishing including, editorial, book design, sales, publicity and marketing, agenting, and rights.
- A discussion on how to start your own press by Bookseller Small Northern Press of the Year winner, Isabelle Kenyon., and how to start your own publishing company.
- A 30-minute talk that provides tips on what publishers are looking for during the job interview process.
